Special Olympics Cyprus athletes and Unified Partners came together for a day of Bowling fun to celebrate European Week of Sport.

Special Olympics Cyprus continues its commitment to celebrate European Week of Sport year after year. This year, the programme hosted a Unified bowling event with the participation of 80 athletes. Among the 80 athletes, 40 were Special Olympics Cyprus athletes with intellectual disabilities and the other 40 were peer coaches from their Unified Partner School Pascal English School of Larnaca. Special Olympics Cyprus National Director Eleni Rossides said “Special Olympics Cyprus has been participating at the European Week of Sports for the past five years. Cyprus takes European Week of Sports very seriously. Many actions are planned and most federations are involved.” When asked about the specific choice of a bowling event, Rossides said “Bowling is not a common sport of choice for Unified competitions but we wanted to show the power of unified sports through a different angle. It was indeed a strong demonstration of the positive impact of Unified sports for all parties involved.”
