Denisa Trmalová: My X Games Unified story

My name is Denisa Trmalová, I'm 18 years old and I am from the Czech Republic. I love snowboarding and so I was delighted to be selected as a Special Olympics athlete for X Games Unified Snowboard Races in Aspen, USA earlier this year!

I had such a wonderful experience at the competition. The snowboarders were so sincere, cheerful and generous. Also, my coach, Jan Alexandr, was so patient. He went everywhere with me, interpreting and explaining everything! However, the most beautiful experience for me ultimately was winning a bronze medal. I'm still so happy about it!

When the last day came, I was sad. It was hard to leave such a beautiful country. I will never forget my memories from X Games - I still love looking back on them all today!

X Games is an important event on the international winter sports calendar with more than 200 of the world's top athletes competing. In Unified Races, X Games athletes are paired with Special Olympics athletes to compete as Unified teams.
