Among the few athletes who had the opportunity to meet with the Lions Clubs International’s new First Vice President Gudrún Björt Yngvadóttir was Rakel Aradottir, a Special Olympics Iceland swimmer who received her first ever gold medal at the Los Angeles Games in 2015. Rakel and her fellow athletes loved the opportunity to meet with Mrs. Yngvadóttir. The meeting was the perfect occasion for Special Olympics Iceland to show all their appreciation for the Lions Clubs’ consistent support and pave a strong path to continued collaboration. Lions in Iceland have been supporting Special Olympics Iceland and the Sport Federation for Disabled in Iceland for years via consistent financial and operational support. Special Olympics Iceland's National Director Anna Lina Vilhjalmsdottir expressed her gratitude and said, "it is not possible to explain how much worth has come from this relationship and how important this support is for the athletes, the clubs and Special Olympics Iceland.”
