We spoke to Mpho Zenani a parent who attended the Special Olympics South Africa Family Health Forum, which was held in Kimberly. She said that “when I heard about what the program entails, I was inspired as I knew that my son would benefit from the Initiatives”.
Mpho expressed that through the Special Olympics Family Health forum she has been introduced to a number of parents who have children and family members with an Intellectual Disability. She also mentioned that she is a member of the Special Olympics initiative called the Family Network Support which serves as powerful tool for both families and parents.
Mpho lastly said that “through the Special Olympics South Africa programs a lot athletes get a chance to showcase their sports talents. I would definitely encourage other parents who have children with an Intellectual Disability to ensure that they let them join Special Olympics”.
