The official spokeswoman for the UNICEF-Special Olympics alliance and Special Olympics California swimming athlete, Lucy Meyer, visited Brazil. It represents everything that people with disabilities are capable of achieving if we give them the opportunity. Lucy, 18, was born with cerebral palsy and has traveled the world to inspire young people with disabilities who are faced with loneliness, abuse and other injustices. "I want all boys and girls to have the same opportunities in health, education and sports that I have had. Acceptance and inclusion should be a right for every child in the world, "says Lucy.

Lucy has raised more than $ 250,000 for UNICEF programs for children with disabilities. During his visit to Brazil, he met with members of Special Olympics and with the mayor of Recife, Geraldo Julio. Helped to maintain Momentum of "Mission: Inclusion," project of one of our allies, International Lions Club.
