Over 400 athletes on 25 teams from all over the United States and Canada converged on Bismarck, North Dakota August 17-20 to participate in Special Olympics North America Softball Championship.

Fourteen Traditional and 11 Unified teams representing 12 U.S. states and two Canadian territories displayed skills and sportsmanship.

The weekend began with a welcome dinner and Healthy Athlete screenings, of which 137 athletes were screened for Strong Minds and 140 athletes for Special Smiles.

Friday kicked off with a walk of champions and ceremonial first pitches before divisioning rounds. The Opening Ceremony was held that night with a musical performance, Parade of Athletes and fireworks display. Saturday play continued setting up medal rounds on Sunday.

Hundreds of volunteers from Moose International, USA Softball, Bismarck Parks and Rec and Bismarck-Mandan CVB made this event possible, allowing our athletes to compete at the Regional level.

Congrats to all who participated in the action-packed weekend!
