Special Olympics Togo held a unified gala soccer match on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Akassimé football field in Hanoukopé, Lome district. It was organized as part of the re-launch of Special Olympics Togo activities. This Football event was attended by about fifty people with and without intellectual disability. The objective, according to Komla Galley, National Director of Special Olympics Togo, was to send a message that "people with developmental disabilities can live in the community and do things like anyone else." The competition took place in an atmosphere of good humor and cheerfulness. Although a team won on the playing field, there was no winner or loser. Special Olympics Togo was the only winner
