23-year-old Natalie joined Special Olympics Lebanon in 2004. A few years ago, she started to gain weight after years of junk food and limited exercise. She eventually found herself at 110 kilos. Her family and coaches were very worried as she was always out of energy and unhappy with her shape. She joined a Special Olympics fitness program and decided to make a change and set a goal for herself.
She started to change her bad eating habits, cut the soda, swapped out her fast-food meals for healthier options and worked out regularly. In only few months, her routine evolved and she was able to steadily bring her weight down and managed to lose weight. "I went from being inactive, overweight and stressed out to being 15 kilos (33 pounds) lighter with more energy," says Natalie.
Natalie not only looks like a completely different person, but she also gets to be an inspiration to thousands of athletes as she now has a full-time job as a KG assistant teacher. "I have always wanted to be a teacher as I like children so much," she adds.
